Our landlords have two small, unfurnished houses to rent. They are located at the foot of a mountain some 20 minutes from Pátzcuaro or a bit less from Tzintzuntzan.
These are both in a small ranching community, but up the hill a bit from the main population and away from the main, fully paved access road.
There is regular combi service during the day, and the stop is a block or so away.
There is one house set apart from the others (from here referred to as la Casa Amarilla.) It has four modest sized rooms, a large fenced yard, secure parking and well water. Water costs are $70 pesos a month, al you can drink.it's suitable for a single person or a couple without a lot of stuff. The inner fenced yard is a garden spot or a good place for someone with dogs. Asking rent is $2000 pesos a month.
I have to disclose that this particular house has a history of poor Internet reception. Perhaps a taller mast for the long range wi-fi would improve it. The landlords told me that they are willing to provide a taller mast. The second house, "La Casa Verde", is a one bedroom house closer to the landlord's house. There is secure parking and a smaller garden spot. There are 3 rooms, and all are considerably larger than those at La Casa Amarilla, with a small inside bathroom. The bath has modern fixtures. There is also an enclosed porch, with flyscreened wndows, that may be used as a sleeping porch in warmer weather. This house backs to the street, but there's little traffic as the pavement ends 100 meters onward.
This house also rents for $2000 pesos. The Internet reception has been considerably better at this house. One would have to open an account with Mexico En Linea and purchase the antenna and router from them. Possibly the previous occupant would sell the antenna and router at a better price.
