Traffic jam, student demonstration. Wasssup? Empty
PostSubject: Traffic jam, student demonstration. Wasssup?   Traffic jam, student demonstration. Wasssup? EmptyThu 03 Mar 2011, 08:05

I was seeing a lot of buzz about a traffic detour outside Morelia yesterday afternoon/evening. There was one motorcycle Transito directing cars to a detour off the main artery entering Morelia from Pátzcuaro and no traffic leaving Morelia. It would not appear this was a narco/police roadblock or anything of that nature, perhaps a traffic accident or some event on the pereferico??

One person commented about a student demonstration at the university or in front of the Governor's mansion but that seems to be scheduled for today 3 March at 9am and expected to clear before 2pm. Possible there was some connection between this and the detour if that demonstration has been on-going but there does not seem to be any confirmation what any of it is/was about.

Must assume the detour is done for now but if the detour was connected to the demonstration it could be on again today. Any more word?

Indeed there was traffic tie-ups almost all day in Morelia Thursday. That was what our taxista told us and what we were experiencing as we were going to comida China that day. It was predicted to last up until 2pm which was about correct. We had experienced gnarly traffic going into Av Universidad where we were scheduled to have lunch at Wang Jiao's at 2pm. The traffic was OK again, well... normal, after we left the restaurant.

Good thing you didn't come Thursday from Pátzcuaro area, traffic was whacked. Missed a good lunch though.
